Ted + Peggy Schneider - July 17, 2018

Lou Ellen McBeath - July 13, 2018
As a Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Tau member, it was an honor to know Velma. Some of us visited her last summer. It was a joy to have her tell of her early teaching experiences. It was inspiring to have a conversation with someone 106 years old. Not many have that opportunity. I thank the Lord that she had a long full life!

David and Rema Tribby - July 13, 2018
We regret that we were unable to pay our respects during the visitation held for Mrs. Wortman. Our family would like to express our deepest sympathy to all the Wortman family.

O, Janet and all the family: what a loss to us and what a gain for Heaven!!! She probably has something new organized up there already!!!

Linda Justus Johnston - July 12, 2018
Loved Mrs Wortman. I remember going to Butler with her and her daughter and other library workers as a Senior. We were in a bad wreck that night. I also remember getting an A on my Julius Caesar essay. When my brother had to do one,he put a new cover page on my report. He got a D-.She wrote on his cover page"your sister had a very nice paper".I still have that essay. Condolences from the Justus family

My sincere condolences for your loss. I have some great memories of Mrs. Wortman in my years in her classes and around the high school. She had a good run and a very full life. She will be missed greatly by many!

Dear Janet and all the family, Your mother was a special lady. She treated me like a daughter and I always considered her a mentor in Delta Kappa Gamma. I cannot believe she lived such a long and productive life. We have all been blessed by knowing her. With love and condolences Ann Marie Kesler

Lisa & Bob, So sorry for your loss. Mrs. Wortman was a true example of an educator. She was a selfless servant that dedicated her life to her family and community and touched the lives of so many. God bless her for all that she has done.

Maxine Spier Gambrel - July 10, 2018
Have reason to believe that her mother, Venice Curry, was a sister to my grandfather David Lee Curry. Have traced the Curry family and will share, if interested.

Paul Hayes - July 10, 2018
Our sympathy to the whole family. Velma was a trouper ...always ready to engage new people. I recall seeing her several times at the 'Bluebird' when lunching there with Myrtle Tolley. She and Myrtle were dynamos; much alike in many ways. -Paul Hayes (S.E.S., retired)

Arlene Reynolds - July 10, 2018
Our hearts and prayers are with you all during this time of loss. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are a testament to the life of this wonderful lady.
