Ada P. Wertz Fromer, 86, a lifelong Shelbyville resident, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born February 28, 1929, in Johnson County, the daughter of Ithamer and Pearl (Spencer) DeBaun. She married Wayne L. Wertz on September 13, 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1976. On August 31, 1979, she married Kenneth M. Fromer, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2009.
Ada is survived by her daughter, Vicky Roberson and husband, Johnny, of Ezel, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Rita Wertz of Waldron; stepdaughter, Elaine Fromer of Greenville, South Carolina; sister, Marie M. Pile of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Amy Markey and husband, Wade, Brian Wertz and wife, Dawn, and Jay Dudley and wife, Julie; great-granddaughters, Becca Dudley, Alex Dudley, Kate Dudley, Kyleigh Dudley and Leah Markey; two step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Monte Wertz; sisters, Flossie DeBaun and Mary Clayton; brothers, Martin DeBaun and Cecil DeBaun; grandson, Kyle Dudley; and great-granddaughter, Mariah Dudley.
Ada graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1947.
She was baptized at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
Ada retired as a data processor at General Electric, in 1980, with 21 years of service.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Joe Social Club.
Ada enjoyed reading, crocheting, campfires and music.
She always made family time her priority.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Campbell officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
