Alberta M. (Cotton) Boring, 87, of Morristown passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born January 25, 1921, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Bob Cotton and Opal Golding. She married Lowell W. Boring on May 2, 1939, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Terry (wife, Judy) Boring and John (wife, Diane) Boring, both of Shelbyville, and Jan (wife, Millie) Boring of Northville, Michigan; grandchildren, Carla Antle, Tim Boring and Jay Boring, all of Shelbyville, Marissa Bousquet of Farmington Hills, Michigan, and Kyle Boring of Novi, Michigan; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Claud and Grace Bass, the family that raised her.
Mrs. Boring was the secretary to the principal at Morristown School for 12 years and then a reading instructor for Shelby Central Schools, retiring in 1987.
She graduated from Morristown High School in 1939.
Mrs. Boring was a member of Morristown United Methodist Church, a Shelby County Extension Homemaker Club and United Methodist Women. She also attended Morristown Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Morristown United Methodist Church, 221 S. Washington St. in Morristown. Friends may gather one half hour prior to the service at the church.
