Alexandrine B. Knapp

Alexandrine B. Knapp, 84, of Fountaintown, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. She was born October 29, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Eldred T. and Mildred (Honold) Bird. On June 5, 1954, she married her husband of 60 years, Cyrus M. Knapp, and he survives. Alexandrine is also survived by her daughters, Cynthia M. Etheredge of John’s Island, South Carolina and Cheryl A. Knapp of Fairland. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elsie Halford; and a brother, Eldred Bird. Alexandrine graduated from McMain High School in New Orleans and attended Tulane University. She was formerly a secretary. Alexandrine is also survived by her beloved cats, Chance, Katrina and O.J. No public services will be held. Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
