Alfred "Al" Mize

Alfred “Al” Mize, 85, of Fairland, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1928, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, the son of Fred and Mary Frances (Hibbard) Mize. On August 1, 1953, he married his wife of 61 years, Mary Kladden, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Lynnette Rhude and husband, Mike, of Fairland and JoElla Mitchell of Avon; son, Dane Mize and wife, Shannon, of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Paula Mize of Boggstown; sister, Mae Smith of Greenwood; grandchildren, Michelle LaVoi and husband, Abraham, Jason Weddle, Kristin Mize, Tyler Bogard, Tessa Mize and Emma Mize; one great-granddaughter, Reagan LaVoi; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dale Mize; and sisters, Edna Mink and Dortha Cathers. Mr. Mize was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church in Franklin. He retired from Borden Milk Company in 1990, as a 1st class maintenance man, with 33 years of service. Mr. Mize enjoyed going to the cabin and fishing. He loved spending time with his wife and family. Mr. Mize also leaves behind his dog and loyal companion, Coaley. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor John Stephenson officiating. Interment will be at London Cemetery.
