Alice Elizabeth Cossairt, 93, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, November 6, 2020, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born February 7, 1927, in Shelby County, the daughter of John and Rose (Cord) Runnebohm. In October of 1946, she married John W. Cossairt, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1994.
Alice is survived her daughters, Marjorie Herridge and spouse, William, of Anderson, Anne Cossairt of Indianapolis, and Beth Cossairt and spouse, Jill Hoy, of Bloomington; sons, Will Cossairt and spouse, Diane, of West St. Paul, Minnesota, and Jim Cossairt and spouse, Nancy, of Shelbyville; brothers, Nick Runnebohm and Steve Runnebohm and spouse, Karen, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Margie Long and spouse, Don, of Greenfield, and Janice Crane and spouse, Sam, of Greensburg; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to John, Alice was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herb Runnebohm, Bob Runnebohm and Dan Runnebohm; sisters, Mary Hauk and Virginia M. Vrooman.
Alice graduated in 1945 from Waldron High School.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society.
Alice was a florist for Cossairt Florist for 50 years, retiring in 1990.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with Father Mike Keucher officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed.
