Allan Gene Karnes, Jr., 53, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his residence.
He was born September 20, 1960, in Indianapolis, the son of Allan Gene Sr. and Margaret Ann (Munden) Karnes.
Allan is survived by his parents of Shelbyville; daughters, Mandy Barngrover and husband, Jeff of Shelbyville and Sabrina Barnes of Greensburg; sons, John Allan Karnes and Justin Karnes, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Kathy Lewis, Sue Moore and husband, Rod, Kimberly Karnes and Margaret Karnes, all of Shelbyville; brothers, Gary Karnes and wife, Mandy and Larry Karnes and wife, Gina, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kayla Barngrover, Katlin Barngrover, Austin Barngrover, Harley Barnes and Kaylance Barnes; great-grandchild, Harlee Barngrover; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong resident of Shelbyville and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1978.
Allan was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked for the Shelbyville Parks Department.
Allan enjoyed sports and he especially loved watching his son and grandchildren participate. He volunteered time at the Boy’s Club in Shelbyville. He also, enjoyed fantasy football.
He also leaves behind his dog, Bumper.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Blue River Memorial Park, 725 Lee Boulevard in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Blue River Memorial Park.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
