Alta M. Camp, 72, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital in Beech Grove.
Born March 30, 1937,in Gloversville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Harry and Dennia (McCormick) Walker.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Camp of Ohio and James Camp of Maine; daughters, Nanette Thurston, Virginia Wilhere, Dennia Eubanks and Melissa Doak, all of Shelbyville, and Corol Burton of Plainfield; sisters, Virginia Bradt of Northville, N.Y., and Evelyn Trippodo of Gloversville; brother, Wilson Walker of Kentucky; 28 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceed in death by her parents; son, Ricky P. Hamel; daughter, Debra Jackson; brothers, Robert Walker, William Walker, Harry Walker, Donald Walker, Leroy Walker, Bud Walker and George Walker.
Mrs. Camp was a machine operator at Resdel Corp. in New Jersey, retiring in 1998.
She had attended Northville Central School in Northville, N.Y.
Mrs. Camp became a born again Christian through the Evangelical United Church of Christ, with the guidance of Linda Frische-Mouri.
A gathering of friends will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home,with the Rev. Linda Frische-Mouri officiating.
