Anita Luellen Hoggatt

Anita Luellen Hoggatt, 84, of Fairland, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born April 16, 1931, in Shoals, the daughter of Merl and Gertrude (Hawkins) Jackman. She married Lee Franklin Hoggatt on June 27, 1953, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2012. Anita is survived by her sons, Doyle Hoggatt of Indianapolis, Dolan Hoggatt and wife, Cheryl, of Sebastian, Florida and Darin Hoggatt and wife, April, of Greenwood; step-daughter, Billie Lopez and husband, Carl of Portland, Oregon; brothers, Dean Jackman of Arizona and Drexell Jackman of French Lick; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Jackman of London and Ruth Jackman of Shoals; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lena Mae Barnhart and Bea Hemmerlein; brothers, Floyd Dale Jackman, Darrell Jackman, Dalton Jackman and Dallas Jackman. Anita graduated from the Shoals High School class of 1949. She attended New Life United Methodist Church. Anita worked at Western Electric for a number of years. Later, she retired from Triton Middle School cafeteria in 2004, with 20 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making candy and embroidering. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015at New Life United Methodist Church, 6145 N. County Road 400 West, in Fairland. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Rev. Ben Biggs officiating. Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland. Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
