Anne Genest (nee Pascal) died December 1, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born to Irene (nee Arabojoglou) and Moscos Pascal Nov. 1, 1927 in Neptune, New Jersey. Anne met the love of her life, Marcel, at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey and they were married June 21, 1953. Anne and Marcel moved to Shelbyville after their honeymoon to join his parents, Leopold and Antoinette, in running the Jones Monument Company. Anne enjoyed using her artistic talents to help Marcel design customized monuments that are in cemeteries all over south central Indiana.
Anne is loved and remembered by their daughters, Patricia (David) Neuendorf of Aurora, Frances (Mark) Gould of Hamilton, Sue Anne (Daniel) Neuendorf of Fortville, and Cathy (Ivan) Godfrey of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her Goddaughter, Irene Cline of Dallas, Texas.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Marcel on November 16, 1974, and a granddaughter, Sarah Gould on October 8, 2002.
Anne was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Indianapolis (Carmel).
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176. A Trisagion Service will be chanted at 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. There will be additional visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3500 W. 106th Street, Carmel, IN 46032, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Officiants will be Father Lucas Christensen, Father William J. Bartz, and Father Christopher Bender, dean of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Pittsburgh, PA, Anne’s nephew. The Mercy Meal will be served at the church after the funeral.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Shelbyville.
