Arlene Joyce "Darlene" Carter Nunes

Arlene Joyce “Darlene” Carter Nunes, 89, of Indianapolis, formerly of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at her residence. She was born February 16, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Alma (Radke) Gaare. She married George Edward “Ed” Carter in 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1986. In 1995, she married Oliver “Ollie” Nunes, and he also preceded her. Survivors include her sons, Leigh Carter and wife, Tammy, of Indianapolis and Scott Carter of San Diego, California; step-son, Gary Nunes of Arlington Heights, Illinois; sister, Sally Banks of Waukesha, Wisconsin; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward Gaare and Everett Gaare; granddaughter, Annie Carter; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Carter. Mrs. Nunes graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago in 1943. She was a past president of the Cambridge Women’s Club. No services will be observed.
