Arnold "Tootsie" Riddle, 73 of Shelbyville passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at his residence.
Born May 25, 1936, in Slaughters, Kentucky, he was the son of Guy and Maggie (Hobgood) Riddle. He married Jenny Winstead in 1958, and she survives.
Other Survivors include one son, Kevin (wife, Kathie) Riddle of Shelbyville; one daughter, Jennifer (husband, Mike) Scott of Slaughters, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Jessica (husband, Donny) Alvey of Owensboro, Kentucky; three grandsons, Joseph Scott of Slaughters, Joshua Riddle and Justin Riddle, both of Shelbyville; three stepgrandsons, Joe (wife, Vicki) Vergolina of Beacon, New York and Andy Vergolina of Brooklyn, New York and Michael Vergolina of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one step-great-grandson; twin brother, Donald Riddle of Plano, Illinois; two nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cleattus Riddle and Norman Riddle and one sister, Colester Newton.
Mr. Riddle served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960 in Fort Hood, Texas.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, Waldron Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post 70, where he was a member of the Memorial Team/Honor Guard.
Before moving to Shelbyville in 1978 he had been active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scout at Slaughters. In 1973 he was recognized as the Most Outstanding Scout Master of the Boone District of Western Kentucky.
Mr. Riddle retired from Sunshine Mills of Red Bay, Alabama, where he was Regional Sales Manager.
Visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Local services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Evie Stuard officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the local military committee.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Slaughters Christian Church in Slaughters, Kentucky with Rev. Harry Baldwin officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Slaughters Cemetery in Slaughters, Kentucky.
