Arthur Clark "Art" Edington

December 19, 1948 — April 24, 2012

Arthur Clark "Art" Edington, 63, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Lynhurst Healthcare in Indianapolis. Born December 19, 1948, in Wauseon, Ohio, he was the son of James A. "Jim" and Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Baker) Edington. Survivors include his sister, Beth Ann (husband, Rick) Bean of Reno, Nevada; nieces Sherri Bean, Erica Dastrup and JoAnna Bogen; nephew, Andrew Bean; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Art graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1967 and attended Purdue University (now IUPUI) in Indianapolis. He later attended ITT Electronics School, also in Indianapolis. He had owned and operated Edington Music, where he taught music lessons, worked on many sound systems and amplifiers and repaired musical instruments. Art was an accomplished musician, playing bass, trumpet and keyboard. He was a member of the Musicians Union and played in many local bands, his first--The Derbys--while he was still in high school. Art spent a lot of time working on cars. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Perry Richards officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Lynhurst Healthcare, 5225 W. Morris St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46241.
