Audrey Bonaventura Zerr, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away, Monday, February 3, 2014 at Heritage House of Shelbyville.
She was born September 2, 1923, in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Maurice Francis and Marjorie Elizabeth (Ketcham) Dill. She married Paul Anthony Zerr on May 19, 1948, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1979.
Audrey is survived by her sons, Frank Michael Zerr and wife, Jean, and Mark Andrew Zerr and wife, Kathy, both of Shelbyville, David Myron Zerr and wife, Kathy, of Cumming, Georgia, Robert Maurice Zerr and wife, Debbie, of Granger, and Kevin Thomas Zerr and wife, Linda, of Fishers; brother, Dr. Myron K. Dill and wife, Edna, of Indianapolis; sister, Carolyn J. Dapo of Wake Forest, North Carolina; grandchildren, Nicole Stephanie Clark and husband, Matt, Katie Elizabeth Smith and husband, David, Lisa Megan Harpring and husband, Adam, Natalie Pauline Zerr, Ashley Michelle Zerr, Noelle Elizabeth Zerr, Olivia Colleen Zerr, Nathaniel Andrew Zerr, Paul Thomas Zerr and Danielle Erin Zerr.
Audrey graduated from Warren Central High School in 1941 and St. Mary of the Woods College in 1945. She also attended Indiana Central College
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was an office holder in Daughters of Isabella.
Mrs. Zerr was formerly a kindergarten and elementary teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School and Shelbyville Central Schools. Later, she was a teller at First Federal Savings and Loan, later known as Shelby County Bank.
She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and reading.
Mrs. Zerr’s family operated the former Zerr’s Market.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. The rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
