Barbara Ann Alvis, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at her residence.
She was born December 1, 1948, in Columbia, Kentucky, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Smith) Perry. On June 22, 1974, she married William Daniel Alvis, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2014.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Tony Alvis and wife, Julie, of Shelbyville, and Kevin Alvis and wife, Amy, of Indianapolis; daughter, Brandi Smith and husband, Jason, of Shelbyville; sisters, Connie Giovanoni and husband, John, of Martinsville and Peggy Pennington and husband, Steve, of Shelbyville; brother, Mark Perry of North Carolina; grandchildren, Damon Alvis, Dylan Alvis, Conner Hasecuster, Nolan Hasecuster, step-grandchildren, Braydon Smith and Brooklyn Smith; mother-in-law, Emily Alvis of Shelbyville; long-time family friend, Lisa Neeb of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews; and lots of close friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1967.
She was a retail manager for 30 years, working at Target and Dollar Tree, retiring in 2010.
Barbara enjoyed crocheting and playing video games.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
