Barbara Ann (Francis) Greeson, 90, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Pompano Beach, Florida and Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away December 14, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born on October 12, 1927, in Anderson, the daughter of Wilma Mae and Boyd Francis. On May 2, 1948, she married William Ernest “Ernie” Greeson, and he preceded her in death in 2006, of pulmonary complications.
Barbara is survived by her son, John Dean Greeson, MD, who was born on October 7, 1957, and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
As an only child, she grew up in Shelbyville, where she completed high school. She went on to work for Eli Lilly and Company during World War II.
After marrying Ernie in 1948, they moved to St. Paul, where they opened a small retail appliance store. She and Ernie lived in St. Paul until 1969. While in St. Paul, the Greesons were member of the Methodist Church.
The Greesons moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1969 where Ernie worked for WW Grainger and Company as a salesman.
Barbara loved the beaches and casual atmosphere in Florida, and entertained friends often at her waterfront home.
She and Ernie traveled extensively throughout the world during retirement. Barbara truly enjoyed dressing up and going out to dinner with her many friends.
Barbara was loved by all of her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
An inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County, Indiana.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
