Barbara E. Preidt, 76, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Cherokee, North Carolina.
Born January 1, 1936, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of James Virgel and Della B. (Pendleton) Wells. She married John Preidt, Jr. on June 22, 1962, and he survives.
Other survivors include her daughters, Peggy (husband, Jim) Briscoe, Cheryl (husband, Ray) Akers and Dawn Rutherford, all of Shelbyville and Judith “Kay” (husband, Tom) Campbell of Greenwood; sons, John K. (wife, Julie) Preidt of Shelbyville, Alan Dagley of Carmel and Jamie (wife, Susie) Preidt of Mount Holly, North Carolina; sisters, Madelyn (husband, Robert) Skillman of Jacksonville, Florida and Deborah (husband, Aaron) Bilyeu of Shelbyville; brothers, James G. (wife, April) Wells of Flat Rock, Gary L. (wife, Delores) Wells of New Waterford, Ohio and Mark A. (wife, Sherry) Wells of Rushville; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Douglas Campbell.
Mrs. Preidt was a beautician and the owner of Kopy Kat Beauty Shop. She and her husband owned and operated Landco, where she was the office manager until she retired.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1954.
Mrs. Preidt was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Barbara enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, needlepoint and ceramics.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
