Barbara J. Adkins

Barbara Jane Adkins, 56, of Flat Rock passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her residence. Born September 21, 1952, in Sanders, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wilson and was adopted by Billy J. and Mary Jane Oldham. She married Donald Lee Adkins on October 12, 1979, and he survives. Other survivors include her sister, Beverly (husband, Alton) Adkins of Shelbyville; brothers, Sonny Wilson and Ricky Wilson, both of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive parents; brothers, Michael J. Oldham and Roger Wilson; and sister, Shelly Oldham. Mrs. Adkins was a computer programmer for the State of Indiana. She graduated of Southwestern High School in 1970. Mrs. Adkins was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved animals. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Father Chris Craig and Pastor Dean Adkins officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
