Barbara Jean Allen, 76, of Shelbyville died Thursday, May 24, 2007, at her home.
Born Feb. 26, 1931, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Harold Eugene and Helen Mary (Coppes) Ely. She married J. Keith Allen on Sept. 20, 1947, in Greenwood, and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1997.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald K. (wife, Patricia) Allen of Carmel, Donald G. (wife, Debra) Allen of Trafalgar, Thomas D. Allen of Greenwood and Steven W. Allen of Shelbyville; daughters, Pamela K. (husband, Edward) Estes of Kingman, Ariz., Debra L. (husband, Eddie) Underwood of Baton Rouge, La., and Jacqueline A. Allen of Shelbyville; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Lee Allen; and brother, Robert Allan Ely.
Mrs. Allen had lived in Shelby County since 1988.
She sold Avon products for 17 years. She previously had been a playground director in California for several years.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Christian Englewood Church in Indianapolis.
She was a quilter and enjoyed doing needlepoint and cross-stitch. She also loved crossword puzzles.
A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
