Barbara Jean Fuquay-Spurlin, 78, of St. Paul died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at her home.
Born May 10, 1928, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Wallace Clifton and Mary Elizabeth (Mackey) Wood. She married Ray Fuquay in 1947, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1964. She married Ralph Spurlin Jr. on June 19, 1965, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1989.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Fuquay and Jerren (wife, Amy) Spurlin, both of Indianapolis, and Ron (wife, Lisa) Fuquay of Shelbyville; Four daughters, Connie (husband, Michael) Rukes of Augusta, Ga., Janet (husband, Herbert) Caleau of Flat Rock, Laura (husband, Donald) Wilson of Shelbyville and Rella Caplinger of St. Paul; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Jerry Park of Indianapolis.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Diane Hall.
Mrs. Fuquay-Spurlin lived in St. Paul for the past four years. She had lived in Shelbyville from 1965 to 2003.
She had been employed with Blue River Special Education for Shelbyville Central School as a teachers' aide from 1973 to 1977 and at KCL Corp. from 1977 until retiring in 1993. She was a legal secretary before she was married.
Mrs. Fuquay-Spurlin graduated in 1945 from Southport High School.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mary Lundgren officiating.
Interment will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
