Barbara J. Schwartzkopf, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. She was born September 14, 1937, in Gering, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl and Alice (Nolde) Weitzel. Barbara is survived by her sons, Steve Schwartzkopf and wife, Debbie, of Mesa, Arizona, and Kelly Schwartzkopf of Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter, Lynn Eversole and husband, Brent, of Shelbyville; sisters, Rosemary Stephenson of Eli, Nevada, and Irene Berg and husband, Richard, of Puyallup, Washington; and grandchildren, Shelby Eversole, Cheyenne Eversole, Lane Eversole, Jeremy Kaiser and Nathaniel Kaiser. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold Weitzel and Marvin Weitzel; and sister, Joy Casey. Barbara graduated from Lingle High School in 1955. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Barbara was formerly a member of the Officers Wives Club and bridge club. She loved to paint and was a very good cook. A gathering of friends will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. A Memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
