Barbara Jean Walsman, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at her residence.
She was born October 13, 1938, in Morris, the daughter of Anthony and Bernice (Bear) Vierling.
Barbara is survived by her mother of Shelbyville; daughters, Jeannie Walsman, Kandy Walsman, Brenda Williams and Tammy Morgan and husband, Jason, all of Shelbyville, Patricia Elliott and husband, Billy, of Waldron and Judy Walsman of Franklin; sons, Randy Walsman of Whiteland, Rick Walsman of Shelbyville and Tim Walsman of Fairland; sisters, Terri Taggert and husband, Mike, and Virginia Kellams, both of Shelbyville, Dixie Vierling Voegele of Batesville and Sue Barnhardt and husband, Mike of Wisconsin; brothers, Bill Vierling and wife, Margaret of Florida, Jim Vierling and Gary Vierling and wife, Sue, both of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; son, Kenneth “Bud” Walsman; companion of 25 years, Terry Burnett; father of her children, Robert Walsman; brothers, Jack Vierling, Donald Vierling and Dick Vierling.
Barbara graduated from St. Louis Catholic School in Batesville.
She retired in 2014, from Major Hospital as a dietary aide.
Barbara was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Moose, Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crafting and gardening.
Barbara loved her grandchildren and cherished the time spent with her family.
A Gathering of Friends will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
