Barbara Joyce Smaglinski, 63, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born February 19, 1949 in Bad Axe, Michigan, she was the daughter of James D. and Joyce (Allan) Casey. She married Gerald Smaglinski on December 11, 1971, and he survives.
Other survivors include her mother of Kinde, Michigan; daughters, Julie Wilhelm and Jill Fannin, both of Shelbyville; son, Jeff Smaglinski of Gwynneville; sisters, Jean (husband, Tony) Krinke, Joan (husband, Dennis) Bushey and Laurie (husband, Dave) Matthews, all of Bad Axe, Maureen (husband, Bill) Fealko of Caro, Michigan, Kathy (husband, Dave) Koroleski of Kinde and Lisa (husband, Chris) Shepherd of Harbor Beach, Michigan; brothers, Pat (wife, Sue) Casey of Gaylord, Michigan and Dan (wife, Sue) Casey of Middlesboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jacob, Conner, Patrick, Elijah, Nicholas, Caitlyn and one on the way; sister-in-law, Dorothy Casey of Deford, Michigan; mother-in-law, Marion Smaglinski of Harbor Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; and one brother, James Casey.
Barbara graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1967.
She was a registration clerk at Major Hospital for 18 years, retiring in November of 2009.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading and crossword puzzles.
She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at a later date.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Bad Axe, Michigan.
