Bessie L. Emholt

Bessie L. Emholt, 96, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Major Hospital. Born November 25, 1913 in Rush County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Orie and Flora (Carmony) McDaniel. She married Clarence R. Emholt on May 26, 1937, and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2000. Survivors include her daughters, Darlene (husband, Oscar) Jaggers of Rushville, Irma (husband, Gilbert) Whitten and Janet (husband, Mike) Crim, both of Shelbyville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Leora Bridges, Sylvia Larrison, Zelda Hutton, Bertha Winton and Emma Bailey; brothers, Ted "Fletcher" McDaniel, Thomas Carmony McDaniel and Ozro McDaniel; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Emholt was a member of Town and Country Christian Church. She was a homemaker and attended Morristown schools. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison Street. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral homes, with Pastor Don Bennett officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
