Betty A. Pogue, 70, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at her residence.
She was born April 13, 1945, in Orange County, the daughter of Carlos E. and Lela E. (Goodpaster) Redd. She married Thomas Elwood “Tom” Pogue on June 5, 1963, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2013.
Betty is survived by her sons, Anthony Pogue of Shelbyville, and Thomas Pogue and wife, Audrey, of St. Paul; daughter, Carla Helfer of Shelbyville; brothers, Steven Redd and wife, Ann, and Jeff Redd, both of Greensburg, and Keith Redd of Shelbyville; sisters, Virginia Higdon of Litchville, Kentucky, and Frieda Redd and Susan Redd, both of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Jeffries; and brothers, John L. Redd, Malcolm Redd, Andrew Redd and Alan Lee Redd.
Betty retired as a physical therapy assistant at Major Hospital in 2007, with 26 ½ years of service.
She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Betty loved the time she spent with the family, especially her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor George Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be at Lewis Creek Cemetery in Shelby County.
