Betty Lynn Carpenter

Betty Lynn Carpenter, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at her home.

She was born March 17, 1961, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Larry Abney and Gloria (Lash) Farrington.

Betty is survived by her mother, Gloria Farrington and husband, Roger, of Fort McCoy, Florida; son, Granville Carpenter and wife, Kali, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Stella and Mathew; sister, Lisa Wilson and husband, Dan, of Danville; brother, David Abney and wife, Teresa, of Martinsville; companion, Chris Bowling of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Wesley Abney.

Betty graduated in 1979 from Plainfield High School.

She formerly worked at Dollar Tree for seven years, prior to that she worked at the Waffle House in Plainfield for 24 years.

Betty was a very active grandmother and enjoyed attending the children’s events.

She also leaves behind her dog, Nyla and cat, Charlie.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Nick Coulston officiating.
