Betty D. Busse, 89, of Shelbyville passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
Born May 3, 1921 in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Edward H. and Anna Katherine (Hartman) Busse.
She is survived by nieces George-Anna Van Meter of San Antonio, Texas and Edra Jean Scheidt of Columbus; grandnieces and nephews, Gina Bishop of Shelbyville; Greg Alvis of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Mike Van Meter, Jill Freeborn and Kay Coen, all of San Antonio; several great-grandnieces and nephews and two great-great-grandnieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Wynona Busse and Mrs. George (Edra) Leist.
Miss Busse graduated from Vincennes High School and was a telephone operator in Vincennes prior to moving to Columbus, where she resided for many years. Most recently she had been a resident of Shelbyville where she was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Betty enjoyed being with family and researching family genealogy, her pets, quilting, playing cards and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time at the Shelby Senior Center prior to moving to Ashford Place where she was an active participant in the facility's many activities.
Graveside services and burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2010 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Vincennes.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Guild of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in care of Freeman Family Funeral Homes or the Shelbyville-Shelby Co. Public Library.
