Betty Jean Dobbins, 85, of St. Paul, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
She was born March 20, 1928, in Shelby County, the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Young) Moore.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean Swinehart of Indianapolis, Beverly (husband, Dean) Johns of Paris, Texas, Joyce Nolley of Columbus and Robin (fiancé, Phillip Griffin) Nolley of St. Paul; sons, Donnie (Rosellen Meek) Nolley of Lake Helen, Florida, Roger (wife, Brenda) Nolley of St. Paul, Gary Baker and Tommy Dobbins, both of Shelbyville; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clever Nolley and Gene Dobbins; son, Ricky Nolley; brother, Billy; sisters, Josephine, Grace, Mary and Reva; granddaughter, Dawnielle Sweet; and a great-granddaughter.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Shelby County.
She enjoyed riding her scooter to Walmart and watching people. She also enjoyed crocheting, working sudoku and jigsaw puzzles and spending time on her laptop.
Betty formerly attended Little Blue River Friends Church.
She was a fun person to be around.
A gathering of friends will be from noon to 1 pm, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Betty J. Dobbins Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
