Betty Jean Elizabeth Jeffries, 81, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born April 12, 1934, in Michigan, the daughter of Willie and Vera (Osborne) Mize. In September of 1950, she married her husband of 57 years, Jack Jeffries, and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2007.
Betty is survived by her sisters, Pearl Smith of Noblesville, Vergie Huseman of Lady Lakes, Florida and Joanne McCrackin of Jonesboro, Arkansas; brothers, Bill Mize and wife, Arlene of Charlottesville and Raymond Mize of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews, including Mary Medlin and Diann Bice, who lived with her.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Juanita Medlin.
Betty was a member of Greenfield Church of God.
She formerly owned a restaurant in Shelbyville several years ago. Later, she and her husband drove a truck for Bill Mize.
Betty was very talented, making custom draperies in the shop in her home. She could also tat, crotchet, sew and knit beautiful pieces.
She loved children and was a mother to everyone’s children.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ira Scott officiating.
Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
