Betty Jean Lunday, 90, of Fairland passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018 at her home.
She was born December 20, 1927, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Harold C. and Freida Marie (Oliver) Petersen. On September 8, 1946, she married her husband of 51 years, Dallas Earl Lunday, and he preceded her in death in November of 1997.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Vivian Lucas of Fairland; grandchildren, Cary Lucas and wife, Lori, Greg Pitman and wife, Chris, Dale Pitman and wife, Kelly, and Julie Lucas; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Joseph Lucas, Bradden Johnson, Brock, Austen and Myla Pitman, Evan Wainscot, and Jaylynn and Katelynn Person; and great-great-grandchildren, Blaise, Kyler, Aubree and Konner Lucas.
In addition to Dallas, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jean Ann Pitman; and a sister, Mary Lou Callahan.
Betty graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1945.
She was a member of Emmaus Luther Church in Indianapolis.
Betty was secretary to a vice president at Eli Lilly for over 40 years, retiring in 1989.
She enjoyed research genealogy and wrote two books on her family ancestry. She also enjoyed cross stitch and was a HAM radio operator.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9350 E. Washington St. in Indianapolis.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
