Betty Lou (Siefert) Marsh

Betty Lou (Siefert) Marsh, 79, died March 13, 2015 at her home in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Born July 20, 1935 in Shelbyville to Louis and Maverne Siefert, the third of three children. She was a 1953 graduate of Shelbyville High School and attended Ball State University. While living in Shelbyville, she was a bookkeeper for Prudential Insurance. She married John Thomas Marsh in 1961. In 1972 they purchased the Western Auto store in Simpsonville and operated it for 15 years. She later worked for the US Census Bureau, finally retiring from McDowell Insurance Agency in 2000. She is survived by her son, John Marsh Jr,; her daughter, Debbie Marsh; and her brother, Major Charles Siefert, USAF Ret. A Gathering of Friends will take place from 10:00 - 10:30 am Tuesday, April 7, at Freeman Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Christian burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
