Betty M. Williams, 96, of Shelbyville passed away of natural causes on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood.
She was born November 20, 1923, in Shelby County, the daughter of William Floyd and Marion (Orem) Mallory. On March 8, 1946, she married William B. Williams, and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2005.
Betty is survived by her sons, Bruce A. Williams and wife, Sheila, of Fort Myers, Florida, Clay R. Williams and wife, Deborah, of Greenwood, and Daniel M. Williams; grandchildren, Greg, Jennifer, Tara, Rebecca, Sarah and Caleb; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to William, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick J. Williams; and sister, Janice Bell.
Betty graduated in 1941 from Fairland High School and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1945.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.
Betty was a registered nurse, working in public health nursing and school nursing, most of her career.
She was an avid reader.
Betty enjoyed her weekly “Friday Night Get Together” with her sister-in-law, BC Williams.
Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
The family would like to thank Greenwood Village South for the excellent care she received, the past four years.
Private family services will be observed.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
