Betty Ramey, 85, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in Shelburne, Vt.
Born Oct. 30, 1920, in Plainfield, she was the daughter of the late Byron N. and Jessie M. (Hadley) Cox.
Survivors include one daughter, Becky Ramey of Colchester, Vt.; and three grandchildren, Matthew Burnham of Atlanta, Ga., Stefanie Catella and Kathryn Lloyd, both of Burlington, Vt.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jon C. Ramey; and five brothers, Larry Cox, Ralph Cox, Earl Cox, Charles Cox and James Cox.
Ms. Ramey was a Shelbyville resident most of her life.
She had taught at Shelbyville High School, where she served as counselor from 1944 to 19946 and from 1953 until retiring in 1996.
Ms. Ramey was a member of Naamah Chapter No. 83 Order of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, in Plainfield.
