Beulah Irene Brown, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013, at University Heights Health and Living Community in Greenwood.
She was born October 23, 1934, in Rocklane, the daughter of Harold Paul and Virsel (Weaver) Shipp. On August 8, 1953, she married her husband of 60 years, Morris W. Brown, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Michael (wife, Sherill) Brown and Troy (wife, Darlene) Brown, both of Fairland and Morris “Sam” (wife, Gaye) Brown of Indianapolis; daughter, Terri (husband, Mike) Simpson of Indianapolis; brothers, Dale (wife, Barbara J.) Shipp of Fairland and H. Edward (wife, Barbara G.) Shipp of Fountaintown; sister, Phyllis (husband, John) Crooks of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Natalie, Traci, Todd, Annalee, Andrew, Kyle, Andrea, Blaise and Cole; great-grandchildren, Ava, Elise, Kaleb, Lane, Nora, Isaac, Joshua, Audrey and Ty Bell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Frieda Kehrt and Margaret Sandefur.
Beulah graduated from Moral Township in 1952.
She retired from the personnel department of American States Insurance Company in 1996, after 25 years of service
Beulah was a member of Indian Creek Christian Church where she volunteered in the church office for a couple of years and was active in her Sunday school class. She was also a member of Acton Order of Eastern Star.
She had also played the piano and the hand bells at New Life United Methodist Church.
Beulah also leaves behind her dog, Lucy.
For the last several years, her husband, Morris, and granddaughter, Andrea, were her special caregivers.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at the funeral home, with Dr. Gary Johnson officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
