Beverly "Sue" Mitchko

December 20, 1935 — October 6, 2013

Beverly “Sue” Mitchko, 77, of Acton, passed away peacefully Oct. 6, 2013, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis. She was surrounded by her family. Born to Floyd and Geraldine Brattain on Dec. 20, 1935 in Shelbyville, she was the youngest of five children. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1953. Sue married Henry B. Mitchko July 2, 1954, and he survives. Other survivors include four children, Curtis (wife, Kim) Mitchko of Washington, David (wife, Joyce) of Pleasant View, Karen Mitchko of Acton and Martha Martin of Indianapolis; brothers and sisters, Kay McBroom of Carmel, Carolyn Schneider of Shelbyville, Elmer Brattain of Shelbyville and Dale Brattain of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Keith (Chris Rahman) Mitchko, Cameron Mitchko, Kendall Mitchko, Jennifer (husband, Kevin) Trappe, Phillip (wife, Elizabeth) Mitchko, Katie O'Bryan, Rebekah Martin and Savannah Martin; great-grandchildren, Kerrigan Trappe and Cayden Mitchko; and many loving nieces and nephews. Sue had been active in La Sertoma and Shelby County Extension Homemakers where she was president from 1979 to 1981. She was a homemaker until 1983. She then began working for Specialty Connector in Franklin, followed by work at G & H Wire, where she retired Sept. 6, 2013. Sue loved to sew and spend time with her family. She enjoyed going to movies and was passionate about history and reading. A Celebration of Life open house will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the Carl McNeely Civic Center gymnasium, 945 S. Tompkins St. in Shelbyville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Sue to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301; or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
