Billy Ray Carlton

September 19, 1932 — June 16, 2008

Billy Carlton, also known as "Wild Bill" to friends and family left this Earth to bigger and better things June 16th, he was known as an adventurous and carefree artist whom can best be summed up from a quote used to used to describe Hunter S. Thompson; "Too weird to live, too rare to die". Bill lived in Indiana for the last six years, prior to that he resided in Tempe, Arizona. He wa a correctional officer in Phoenix, Arizona and before that he was an offshoreman for the Oil Company. He served in the United States Air Force stationed out of Long Beach where he helped to restore the infamous Queen Mary. He was also quite notorious for telling stories and visiting with the patrons of the Great American Tattoo Co. Which his son, Joshua, and wife, Nichole, owns. Survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Nichole Carlton, Shelbyville, Indiana; his daughter, Jamy Lisa, New York, NY; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Josh Pace, Tempe, Arizona; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Bea Clagg, Daytona Beach, Florida; his brother, Albert Carlton, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his sisters, Betty and Donna Bell Carlton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his son, David Carlton. A life celebration with friends and family will be held at Joshua and Nichole's residence at 232 W. Broadway, Shelbyville, IN 46176 on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Light catering will be provided, please dress cheerfully.
