Bonnie Sue Smithey, 66, of Fairland, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Major Hospital.
Born June 7, 1945, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Wallace Hagan and Gloria (Dill) Lindsey. She married Billy Smithey on March 30, 1963, and he survives.
Other survivors include her son, David (wife, Kimberly) Smithey of Indianapolis; daughter, Lorna "Lorie" (husband, Michael) Nunnally of Shelbyville; brothers, John (wife, Debbie) Hagan of Ashland, Wisconsin and Jesse Ray Lindsey Jr. of Indianapolis; sisters, Raylene and husband and Lana and husband, both of Tampa, Florida, and Donna and husband of Carmel; grandchildren, Michael Nunnally, Amanda "Hope" Nunnally Ross, Montana Nunnally, Angela (husband, Tony) Kessler, Tyler Smithey and Kristie Sue Hunt; great-grandchildren, Blaine Nunnally, Bryant Nunnally, Ethan Nunnally, Eli Ross, Katelyn Kessler, Travis Kessler and Baby Girl Kessler, who is on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Tammy S. Hunt; and a grandson, Justin Scott Hunt.
Mrs. Smithey had attended North Vernon High School and was a homemaker.
She had also worked at the Haven Center for five years and was an assistant 4-H leader for the Brandywine Township Cloverleaf Club.
Mrs. Smithey was a member of Fairland Baptist Church, a Homemakers club and a bowling league.
Bonnie collected dolls, enjoyed making crafts and camping. She also liked horses and birds.
She also leaves behind her dogs, Murphy Joe, a Papillon, and Dixie, an Australian shepherd.
Visitiation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery.
