Burt McKenney, 95, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at IU Methodist Health in Indianapolis.
Ward Burton McKenney was born December 18, 1921, in Shelbyville, the son of Carl and Marie (Bogeman) McKenney. On November 30, 1945, he married his wife of 71 years, Gladys Hodson, and she survives.
In addition to Gladys, Burt is survived by daughters, Teresa Tindall and husband, Jim, Molly McKenney, and Cynthia DeCamp and husband, Murry, all of Shelbyville; sons, Patrick B. McKenney of Anderson, Tim McKenney and wife, Gaye, of Shelbyville, Dennis McKenney and wife, Rachael, of Fort Collins, Colorado, Kevin McKenney and wife, Lori, of Selma, Erin McKenney and wife, Julie, of Zionsville, and Kelly McKenney and wife, Karla, of Indianapolis; son-in-law, Todd Kidwell of Michigan; 29 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Barry Douglas McKenney; daughter, Sally Brigid Kidwell; and brothers, Carl E. McKenney, David Glen McKenney, Joseph Gale McKenney and Earl L. McKenney.
Burt graduated from Waldron High School in 1939.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burt retired as chief electrician from KCL Corp. in 1982, with 30 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp for six years, during World War II.
Private family graveside services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
