C. Dennis Haehl, 84, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Major Hospital.
Born June 4, 1923, in Shelby County, he was the son of George P. and Florence Julia (Theobald) Haehl. He married Annabelle Miller on November 27, 1943, and she preceded him in death on January 3, 1997.
Survivors include his son, David G. (Diane) Haehl of Shelbyville; daughter, Margaret R. Haehl of Shelbyville; sisters, Rosemary Kuhn of Plainfield, Nine Mae (husband, Andy) Monroe of Odon and Phyllis (husband, Wendell) Fleener of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren, Kimberly Haehl, Eric (wife, Michelle) Haehl, B. J. Haehl (fiancee, Ashley Payne) and Drew Haehl; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Haehl.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Dennie Jane Haehl.
Mr. Haehl was a lifelong Shelby County resident, where he farmed all of his life and drove a delivery fuel truck for Mobile and Fairland Oil companies.
He graduated from Waldron High School.
Mr. Haehl was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he previously served as an elder, deacon and on the board of trustees. He had been a memer of the Manilla Volunteer Fire Deparment for 20 years and served as secretary of the board of directors; and was a charter member of Manilla Lions Club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical United Church of Christ, 2630 S. Miller St., with the Revs. Linda Frische-Mouri and Dennis Frische-Mouri officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
