C. Duane Carmony, 74, of Shelbyville died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at his home.
Born Aug. 13, 1932, in Shelbyville he was the son of Cecil H. and Mary E. (Evans) Carmony. He married Virginia "Jenny" Headrick on June 13, 1951, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Terry D. (wife, Connie) Carmony and Timothy A. (wife, Lisa M.) Carmony, both of Shelbyville; one daughter, Brenda Carmony Lawson of Shelbyville; four grandchildren, Todd (wife, Amy) Carmony of Greenwood, Jordan A. Carmony and Joseph T. Lawson III, both of Shelbyville, and Amanda Michelle Lawson of Indianapolis; one great-grandson, Tyler Alan Carmony; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Christopher Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Carmony was a self-employed tax accountant for the last 20 years. He previously was a controller for Attitype and auditor for Shelby National Bank.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving as a staff sergeant.
Mr. Carmony graduated in 1950 from Morristown High School and attended the Indiana University Extension for tax and accounting courses.
He was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin, First Christian Church in Shelbyville, American Legion and Elks Club. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted.
