Carl James "Todd" Glidden

Carl James “Todd” Glidden, 54, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at his residence. Born March 30, 1958, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Carl James Pete Glidden and Jack and Patricia (Lawrence) Compton. He married Michele “Shelley” Stanton on May 11, 1996, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Carl James “Grant” Glidden and Nathaniel William “Nathan” Glidden, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Natalie Sue Glidden and Kay Ann Meal, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Tricia Booth and Susan Compton, both of Shelbyville and Pamela Compton of Indianapolis; brother, Benjamin (wife, Lisa) Compton of Shelbyville; aunts, Linda Terrell of Shelbyville and Janet Compton of Flat Rock; mother-in-law, Beverly Stanton of St. Paul; and nieces and nephews, Sam and Alec Booth, Gael Compton, Jacquie Compton, Mitchell Compton and Elizabeth “Betsy” Stanton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Todd was a lifelong Shelbyville resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1976, after high school in attended and graduated from Ball State University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity in 1980 with a major in Journalism and a minor in Science. Todd worked at the family owned business, Compton Dairy from about the age of 10 years old until the spring of 1998. He then worked in the advertising department at WSVX until retiring in 2007. He loved his family and enjoyed sports, especially watching his sons play football for Shelbyville High School. He also enjoyed music. Todd also leaves behind his dogs, Luci Lu and Eli. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bob Campbell and Mark Dodd officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to National Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050 or Shelbyville High School Football Program, 2003 South Miller St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
