Carlin Hansford, 80, of Marietta, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, in Rushville at the home of her daughter.
Born July 26, 1926, in Buford, Ky., she was the daughter of Herman and Survilia (Ward) Smiley. She married Eural "Jody" Hansford on March 17, 1962, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Richardson of Michigan City and Janice (husband, Thomas) Hartenburger of Rushville; six sons, Joseph L. Hansford of Bengal, Bobby Joe Hansford of Mount Auburn, James Richardson of Nineveh, Harold Hansford and Shelby Purdue, both of Marietta, and Marlin Richardson of St. Omer; one brother, Truman Smiley of Shelby, N.C.; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Herman Smiley, Alton Smiley and Autry Smiley; three sisters, Betty Turner, Ova Bartlett and Nora Smiley; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hansford lived most of her life in Marietta and Shelby County.
She was a homemaker and previously had been employed at Heritage House Convalescent Center for 10 years.
She was a former member of Edinburgh Church of God.
Visitation was on Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Todd A. Stocklin officiating.
Interment will be in Patterson Cemetery in Shelby County.
