Carol A. Wiley

Carol A. Wiley, 60, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, Fla., after a 1-1/2 year battle with cancer. Born May 10, 1946, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Colonel Walter A. and Helen M. (Bansbach) Riemenschneider. She married Julian Wiley on Aug. 6, 1978, and he survives. Other survivors include daughters, Melissa (husband, Robert DiBlasi) Wiley of Indianapolis and Melanie Wiley of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Joe Riemenschneider of Shelbyville. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Wiley had been a guidance counselor at Shelbyville Middle School for more than 20 years. She also had been a guidance counselor at Franklin Township School and taught fourth grade at Loper Elementary School. She retired from teaching in May of 2005. She had a total of 37 years of service with elementary education. She graduated in 1964 from Shelbyville High School; in 1968 from Edgecliff College in Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree in education; from Butler University with a master's degree and a specialist degree in psychometry. She had additional graduate studies in counseling. Mrs. Wiley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and National Education Association. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with the rosary recited at 1:45 p.m., at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. Interment will be in Van Pelt Cemetery in Shelby County.
