Carol Lee Finkel died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at her home. Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Hymen and Anne (Polakoff) Drevno. She married Maurice Finkel, and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Cydney (husband, Joel) Fox of Granada Hills, Calif.; two sons, Kenneth (wife, Ann) of Indianapolis and David (wife, Sarah) of Shelbyville; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sondra Fogle. Mrs. Finkel was employed as treasurer of National Automotive Lines, Inc. She graduated from Hope High School in Providence, R.I., and earned a bachelor?s degree in piano performance from the Indiana University School of Music. Mrs. Finkel was a founding member of the Shelby Community Band, the Shelby Arts Council and the Shelby Orchestral Association. As a pianist, she participated in many of the musical productions at Shelbyville High School and accompanied students at music contests at both the regional and state levels. Mrs. Finkel?s involvement with Indiana University spanned many years. She was past president of both the IU Alumni Association and the IU School of Music Alumni Association. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda, Tri Kappa, P.E.O., Elks Club, Optimist Club and Music Study Club. Mrs. Finkel was a member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Carmony-Ewing Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation Cemetery North, in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 110 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176, or to the Carol Finkel Music Scholarship Fund in care of Blue River Foundation, 54 W.
