Carolyn J. Robertson

Carolyn J. Robertson, 77, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. She was born March 30, 1940, in Urmeyville, Johnson County, Indiana, the daughter of Rev. Robert N. and Mary Ada (Hansford) Simpson. On May 15, 1956, she married James D. “Jimmy” Robertson, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2004. Carolyn is survived by her sons, Rickey Robertson and wife, Michelle, of Shelbyville, Michael Robertson and wife, Irina Kotlova, of Indianapolis, and James Robert Robertson and wife, Theresa, of Tempe, Arizona; daughter, Angelieta J. Weaver and husband, David, of Shelbyville; brothers, Floyd Rash of Jasonville, Dean Rash and Robert Edward Simpson, both of Shelbyville; sister, Betty Rady of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Melissa Lakes and husband, Chris, Heidi McIntire and husband, Jeremy, Nick Robertson and wife, Rachel, James M. Robertson, Sarah Johnson, Rachel Robertson, Lizzy Robertson, Austin Robertson and wife, Laura, and Samantha Ann Robertson; great-grandchildren, Zachary Lakes, Kaylan McIntire, Vivian McIntire and Sophie Johnson; her beloved companion, Glenn Lee of Shelbyville and his children, Carmella Owens and husband, Dennis, of Indianapolis and Rick Lee of Shelbyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Gleela Critser. Carolyn graduated from John Marshall High School in Indianapolis in 1980. She was a devoted member of Hope Community Church of God, where she loved to worship. Carolyn formerly owned and operated The Wishing Well in Shelbyville for 17 years. She also was the building services manager at the Federal Building in Indianapolis for 15 years. She was a florist and enjoyed doing crafts and shopping. Carolyn was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her talent with her friends and family. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at the funeral home, with the Revs. Gerald Hancock and Robert Simpson officiating. Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
