Carolyn S. Montgomery, 53, a lifelong resident of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Heritage House of Greensburg.
She was born February 27, 1965, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Karl and Alice (VanZant) Montgomery of Shelbyville.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Montgomery of Shelbyville; and a very special cousin, Kevin Holden and wife, Susan, of North Richard Hills, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Forrest and Mary Montgomery and Roscoe and Nelma VanZant.
Carolyn graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1983.
She was a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church.
Carolyn formerly worked at Pilkington for seven years, managed Hardee’s for 15 years, and KCL for three years.
She was a very avid fan of Purdue and the Dallas Cowboys football teams.
Carolyn enjoyed participating in the events at the Shelby County Fair. She was a 4-H leader and cooked for several years in the Rural Youth Building, helping to raise money for the events.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 Friday, September 21, 2018 at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Dodd and Pastor Paul Wenning officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
