Carrie L. Murrell

Carrie L. Murrell, 92, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at her home. Born May 18, 1916, in Oakland City, she was the daughter of Edgar "Eddie" and Isabelle (Bradshaw) Hawkins. She married Fred Murrell on June 9, 1934, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1976. Survivors include her son, Robert Murrell of Shelbyville; daughters, Joyce A. Aulby, Marilyn E. Burks, Alice F. Chance, Sharon M. Murrell and Martha A. Holland, all of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Karen Murrell of Shelbyville; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dorothy Marie Murrell; sons, Elmer Murrell, Elzy Murrell and Archie W. Murrell; and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Murrell was a homemaker. Graveside services will be at 2 pm on Friday in Columbia City Cemetery in Columbia, Kentucky, with the Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Services are entrusted to Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St.
