Charles A. Banschbach, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away, Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at his residence.
He was born July 23, 1931, in Shelbyville, the son of the late Gus A. and Velma (Habig) Banschbach. In 1953 he married, his wife of 62 years, Sally S. Rowsey, and she survives.
Charles is also survived by his cousin, Janett Byrd of Walnut Grove, Georgia; brother-in-law, Stephen Rowsey and wife, Sharon, of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Anita Creed and husband, Dennis, of Glendale, Arizona; nieces, Kindal Ferson of Waldron, Sarah Brooks of Shelbyville and Ashley Rowsey of Indianapolis; nephew, Scott Ferson of Setauket, New York; great-nephews, Michael Campbell and Kenneth Campbell; and great-niece, Karen Campbell.
He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1949 and attended linotype school in English, Indiana.
Charles was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge-Shelbyville, Knights of Columbus Council No. 822 and American Legion Post No. 70.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for two years, and the Indiana National Guard for four years.
After graduation, Charles worked for Quality Print in Shelbyville and Franklin Printing in Franklin. He was also a member of the Shelbyville Fire Department for 20 years. After retiring, he was a printing salesman for White Arts Printing in Indianapolis.
He enjoyed playing cards.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
