Charles “C.C.” Hayes, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence.
He was born September 1, 1947, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Kenneth E. and Carrie E. (Grooms) Hayes. On December 15, 1985, he married Fay (Harmon) Hayes, and she survives.
C.C. is also survived by his daughter, Amy Hayes of Shelbyville; son, Travis Hayes of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Carrie Barnhizer and husband, Jason, of Bargersville; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carol Switzer, Linda Blair and infant sister, Geraldine Hayes; and a brother, Kenneth W. Hayes.
C.C. graduated from Franklin High School in 1965.
He attended Crossroads Community Church.
C.C. worked at General Electric Wiremill from 1966 to 1987, he then worked at Spenax for several years. He retired from Altas Cold Store in 2013, with 15 years of service.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge #2118; Eagles Lodge #766 and Sons of the American Legion.
C.C. liked playing cards, reading, horses and bird watching.
He enjoyed sports and was a diehard St. Louis Cardinal fan, he also like to watch the IU Hoosiers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Crossroad Community Church, 475 Progress Road in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Andy Lee officiating.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
