Charles "Chuck" Oberman, 59, of Shelbyville was called home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, after a hard fought battle.
Chuck was born to Richard and Ramona Oberman on December 5, 1957. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1976, served four years in the United States Air Force, then four years in the United States Army. He married Debra Brewer of Shelbyville on April 28, 1988. After working 22 years at Knauf Fiberglass, he worked 4 years at PMC. He loved music, the Hoosiers, the Dallas Cowboys, the staff at Benesse Oncology Center, the SHS Boys Soccer Team, animals, his family, and the Lord.
Chuck is survived by his wife; two sons, Charles Oberman II of Casa Grande, AZ, and Donald "Thad" Oberman of Shelbyville; two daughters, Constance (Sean) Wade of Pierson, FL, and Tiera (Ben) Purvis of New Palestine; grandson, Brendan Oberman; sister Vicki (Delbert) Frazier; brother, Jim (Kim) Oberman; father-in-law, Stan (Jackie) Brewer; mother-in-law Linda (John) Koch; brother-in-law, Craig (Sheryl) Brewer; sister-in-law, Marcia (Sonny) Watkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, good friends, and his best friend, Snuggles.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ambrosia Oberman; son-in-law, Charles Goodrich; and brother-in-law, Stanley Brewer.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Chuck requested everyone come as they are; there's no need to dress up.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Shelby County Animal Shelter or Benesse Oncology Center in Shelbyville.
